FAQ

The Answers You Need

CAN I SPONSOR A MEAL?

This is the most common way casual donors meaningfully engage with the children.  If a life event or milestones calls you to perform a noble gesture, you could consider sponsoring a lunch or dinner for one of our child-care homes and join them for the meal.  Call or write to us to know how you could make them part of your special day.

HOW CAN I VOLUNTEER?

You can volunteer to be part of any of our ongoing programs or in an administrative capacity.  The time you spend and the frequency of the volunteering is entirely up to you.  The quickest way to volunteer is to register via our registration form (hyperlink).  Please provide us with sufficient information to assign you to a suitable program and location.

CAN I DO AN INTERNSHIP WITH THE OPEN DOOR FOUNDATION?

At this time The Open Door does not offer internship opportunities.

IS IT OKAY FOR ME TO WALK-IN AND MEET THE CHILDREN?

The address listed on the website is our administrative office; children do not reside at this location.  The best way to interact with the children is to register as a volunteer or sponsor a meal.

HOW MANY CHILDREN DO YOU HAVE?

Our child-care homes are located across the city. A home could have anywhere from 50 to 100 resident children.

HOW WOULD MY DONATION BE USED?

You may direct your donation to a specific program (back-to-school, ongoing scholarships) or care-home.  We will give you a tax exempt receipt for your donation and share with you progress of work we do in that area.  You are welcome to visit the home to be part of the program delivery.

WILL I GET A TAX BENEFIT ON MY DONATION?

Yes, you will get tax exemption under 80G

CAN NON-INDIAN NATIONALS DONATE TO THE OPEN DOOR?

Indian corporate entities and nationals (or people of Indian origin) living anywhere in the world may donate to The Open Door Foundation.  At this time we aren’t permitted to receive funds from non-Indian corporate entities and individuals.
