🍛 🍛 A GENEROUS MEAL FOR 55 KIDS 🍛🍛

We are incredibly thankful to a generous donor who sponsored a vegetarian meal for 55 children residing at an orphanage within our network on October 22nd. This heartwarming act of kindness, made in honor of a family member, brought smiles and contentment to the faces of all the children.
Generous donors periodically sponsor a special meal for a variety of occasions- birth of a child, anniversary, special holiday, birthdays, death anniversary, or simply because they wish to spread some joy. 🎊
Each meal (veg or nonveg) can be tailored to suit your budget and the number of children you wish to support.

🙌 INCREDIBLE TRANSFORMATION AT ANGELS ORPHANAGE! 🙌

We have amazing news to share – our campaign to improve hygiene at Angels Orphanage was a resounding success, all thanks to your incredible support!
Angels Orphanage provides a loving home for 50 children aged 5 to 18. They've been facing infrastructure challenges, including limited bathrooms, toilets, and no wash basins. Plumbing issues, non-functioning fixtures, and a rodent-infested storage shed were daily hurdles.
Your support made a world of difference! With your donations, The Open Door's restoration efforts transformed the facilities. We added 3 toilets and 3 bathrooms, totaling 16, with concealed plumbing and hygiene fittings. There's ample running water and improved lighting for safety, even at night.
We also addressed drainage and completely rebuilt the 160 sq. feet outdoor storage unit with shelving for added utility. The impact on the children's lives cannot be overstated. They no longer face the challenges of "rationing" bathrooms and toilets, and hygiene issues are being addressed.
This transformation was possible with the support of The Open Door Foundation, Pearl Developers, skilled labor, and competitive material sourcing.
Together, we've shown that when we open our hearts and extend our hands, we can create lasting change! 🌍❤️

This initiative is designed to provide sanitary supplies to all the girls who need them in our childcare homes.

Since 2012, The Open Door Foundation and V.S. Dental College & Hospital in Chamrajpet, Bangalore have shared a remarkable partnership with a shared mission: to support the underprivileged. Together, they've made a profound impact on the dental health of countless children.
🏥 Junior dentists, under the guidance of their senior counterparts, work tirelessly to provide essential dental care to those in need. They even have a mobile van that travels to various childcare homes to conduct screenings, ensuring no child is left without care.

NEW CAMPAIGN LAUNCHED TO KICK OFF 2023

The Open Door Foundation is kicking off 2023 with a new campaign to upgrade existing bathroom facilities at one of our child care homes. As a reminder, The Open Door Foundation is a volunteer-centric NGO that works for the development of children living in orphanages and Child Care Homes (CCH) in India. The children in these homes may be orphans, run-aways, from broken families or abused. See more information on our Current Campaigns page.

The role objectives of the Administrative Coordinator

Be the administrative point of contact for ODF

Provide administrative support for all running campaigns

Coordinate new volunteer registration and assignment to various programs

Put in place administrative processes and program reporting for The Foundation
This role allows the flexibility of work-from-home. Work timings are flexible
but will require 8-10 hours a week. At least once a week the administrator is expected to visit a child care
home to interact with ODF volunteers and coordinators, and child-care home directors.

FEEDING CHILDREN TO HONOR LATE FAMILY MEMBERS

In September, two donors sponsored meals for dinner to honor the passing of a family member. Each sponsored meal allowed 150 girls and boys across three homes to enjoy a meal of chicken biriyani, raitha, veggies, dessert, and some fruit.
For some who were returning after a forced covid break, it was a highly relished welcome-back meal!

MEDICAL EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP WITH YOUR GP

A healthy child is not only a happy child but also frees up the adult who supervises them. The current health crisis has brought to the fore the need for a heightened sense of general health awareness. A group of young doctors – graduating and interns from Bangalore colleges – have set out on a mission to educate children on important medical and health topics. Your GP, as they like to be called, has teamed up with The Open Door Foundation to better educate our children in matters of health and hygiene.
Our first round of Covid Prevention webinars is well underway and has received strong thumbs-ups from the children and care-givers. Though these online webinars the children are given formal medical education and allowed to get their doubts clarified by the doctors.
Early intervention is the next best solution. We also provide first line emergency medical consultation by senior doctors using a telemedicine model thereby getting professional care earlier in the illness process. Medical problems that go untreated or incorrectly treated by care-givers now get the chance of an “onsite” doctor available everyday via video.
In partnership with Your GP, The Open Door Foundation is making our child-care homes a healthier place for the children.

MISSION MILK + THE OPEN DOOR FOUNDATION!

Mission Milk (https://www.facebook.com/MissionMilkBLR) is an initiative by a group of socially conscious individuals to provide better nutrition to children during these exceptional times. In partnership with them, The Open Door Foundation has brought a glass of milk to the breakfast table for our child care homes. The added nutrition helped build immunity and kept our children covid-free. Through the month of May, June and July about 150 children aged 5-15 years enjoyed a healthier breakfast.

Exciting news! 100 girls from ages 5-15 now have wi-fi so they can access the internet, get homework help, participate in classroom instruction online, and get on the information highway. The Open Door Foundation distributed tablets to this home earlier in the year, so now the students can use them to their full intent.
